Rainy season in Phuket.

The rainy season in Phuket typically occurs from August to October, and it is part of the southwest monsoon period. During the rainy season, Phuket experiences warm temperatures ranging from 25°C to 34°C (77°F to 93°F). Rainfall can be heavy at times, leading to occasional downpours. It’s important to note that while the rainy season Phuket does bring more rain, it doesn’t mean it rains all day, every day. There can be periods of several dry days.

The southwest monsoon can result in rough seas around the island, with waves reaching up to two meters in height. This can impact boat tours and ferries, making some routes less accessible or even unsafe. Divers may also experience reduced visibility due to stirred silt in the water.

The rainy season is considered Phuket’s low season because of the wetter weather and rough seas. But it isn’t bad at all, making it perfect if you want to avoid crowds. Accommodation prices tend to be significantly lower, often around half the rates of the high season. Travelers can still enjoy their visit by engaging in indoor activities such as exploring local cuisine, visiting museums and temples, relaxing in spas, trying herbal saunas or hot springs, and getting massages.
